Programs

Infant

In the infant rooms we strive to create an environment that is welcoming, safe, and consistent, yet flexible in keeping with individual schedules and needs. We establish strong relationships between children and teachers in which the little ones will have the opportunity to thrive and develop in a relaxed and happy setting. Our classrooms respect diversity and reflect family backgrounds allowing us to establish consistency between home and school. The Connecticut Guidelines for the Development of Infant & Toddler Early Learning are used as the basis for planning learning experiences, observing and documenting child progress and implementing teaching strategies.

Toddler

The Connecticut Guidelines for the Development of Infant & Toddler Early Learning are used as the basis for planning learning experiences, observing and documenting child progress and implementing teaching strategies. Toddler classrooms are stimulating, language rich, and ever-changing. Toddlers learn through play and daily routines; everything we do, every area of the room, every walk through the Center is an opportunity to work on the skills which will be crucial to the toddler's positive experiences in coming years. Music and songs are a big part of the toddler experience; helping children build self-esteem as they master words and tunes in their daily transitions. Toddler teachers work closely with parents to negotiate these "tricky" toddler years.

Preschool

The Connecticut preschool curriculum and assessment frameworks are used as the basis for planning learning experiences, observing and documenting child progress and implementing teaching strategies. Preschool curriculum is exciting and dynamic! Carefully planned themes and activities stimulate children to think about their world. These activities include work on self-help, verbal, gross and fine motor skills, reading and math readiness and basic concepts, as well as daily routines that help preschoolers learn to be part of a community. The concept of respect is learned, social interactions are honed, conflict resolution is practiced. Preschool teachers team with parents throughout the preschool experience, effectively solving issues that arise at school and at home.

Summer Program

For eight weeks each summer, our toddler and preschool programs look like "camp." Thematic, play-based learning gives children a chance to do outdoor, hot and cold play with water and sand, plant a summer garden, and do crafts and nature projects. Indoors we focus on BIG books, 'cooking' projects, and a variety of dramatic play activities.
